BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR- JEFFREY ARCHER

Archer is back and this time the Clifton Chronicles have got a lot more adventurous, dramatic and almost a rollercoaster of a novel. This is the kind of book which can be read in one sitting and over one weekend and perhaps even in one night.
“Be Careful What You Wish For” is the fourth instalment in the Chronicles and it is way better than the other three. The book further talks of the lives of Sebastian, Harry and Emma Clifton along with the Barringtons.
The book like any other Archer has a lot of twists and turns which only works for the reader, and helps him or her in turning the pages with bated breath.
Be Careful What You Wish For is a best-selling suspense novel from master storyteller Jeffrey Archer. The fourth installment of The Clifton Chronicles, the book continues with Henry Clifton's story and follows the Clifton and Barrington families into the sixties.
Summary of the Book
When Harry and Emma Clifton hear about their son Sebastian's car accident, they rush to the hospital unsure whether it was their son who died or his best friend Bruno. Meanwhile, Don Pedro schemes to install Major Alex Fisher into Ross Buchanan's seat as the chairman of the Barrington Shipping Company, a seat that Emma desires following Buchanan's forced retirement. The Barrington family firm is threatened by Pedro's intentions just as the firm stands to build its new luxury liner, the MV Buckingham. In London, Harry and Emma's adopted daughter finds love in the Slade Academy of Art. However all delight at the news of the wedding vanishes when an old friend, Lady Virgina Fenwick, appears. Events take a turn when a hitherto unknown Yorkshireman, Cedric Hardcastle, takes a place in the board of Barrington's firm, changing the lives of both families.

BEST PLACE TO BUY THIS BOOK !

Everything hinges on the one night when rules are relaxed and consensual union between any man and woman is sanctioned. This night could end the couple's suffering and humiliation. But it will also put their marriage to the ultimate test. Acutely observed, One Part Woman lays bare with unsparing clarity a relationship caught between the dictates of social convention and the tug of personal anxieties, vividly conjuring an intimate and unsettling portrait of marriage, love and sex.

The Dramatic Decade: The Indira Gandhi Years- by Pranab Mukherjee

The Dramatic Decade focuses on one of the most fascinating periods in the life of this nation, the decade of the 1970s. This was when India found herself engaging with the true meaning of democracy. The nation displayed her commitment to liberty by extending full support to East Pakistan’s struggle for independence. Later, between 1975 and 1977, during the Emergency, she found herself grappling with the limits of personal expression. Finally, in 1977, India saw the emergence of the politics of coalition, with the Janata Party an amalgam of Indian parties opposed to the Emergency, comprising the Congress (O), the Bharatiya Lok Dal, the Jana Sangh and the Socialists, coming to power. This was a turning point in the history of the Indian legislature. This was the decade when Pranab Mukherjee committed himself to the role of a political activist. As one of the keenest observers of and participants in this dramatic decade, Pranab Mukherjee’s insights are invaluable. Indeed, he nudges our impressions of the 1970s. For instance, recounting the urgent appeal for Indira Gandhi’s midterm resignation, he asks which democracy in the world would permit a change of a popularly and freely elected government through means other than a popular election. Can parties beaten at the hosting replace a popularly elected government by sheer agitation? Was it not prudent for those who were determined to change the government to wait till the elections which were but round the corner? Does the rule of law mean that the remedies available to the common man are to be denied to someone holding an elected office? How could anybody replace her when the overwhelming majority of Congress MPs with a two thirds majority in the Lok Sabha resolved that Indira Gandhi should continue as the party’s leader in Parliament and thereby as the Prime Minister of India? Drawing from personal diary extracts, conversations with key players of the 1970s, and vital secondary literature, Pranab Mukherjee presents an exceptional portrait of a complex nation.

The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

There is a paradigm in the universe that is the kernel for the success of people in their lives. This paradigm is hidden and has been known only to very few historically exceptional people. The elements of the paradigm are visible only in bits and pieces to the majority of the human beings. What if the unkempt paradigm is clearly compacted and present to the world? What if the 'secret' is revealed? Rhonda Byrne, the author of the book, the Secret, presents such an ultimate secret which will unveil the formula for a successful life. The Secret is a self-help book which relies on the dogma that the universe is governed by a law called the law of attraction. According to the law of attraction, one attracts what one focuses on primarily. If a person spends his/her life focusing on positive thoughts, then the person will supposedly attract positive energy and positive results; the same is the case with attracting negative energy. This belief is based on the idea that both people and their ideas are made up of energy and thus one can influence the other upon will and exercise one's wishes and obtain happiness in life. The book intends to render its readers a way to attain their ambitions in life and be successful. A detailed expansion on the idea of law of attraction is written to help everyone reading the book. The book is published in hardcover and is a 1st edition (2006).
